About me
Hi, I’m Daniela.
I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember. Over the years I noticed something: painting freely – without a plan, without judging the result, makes room inside. It takes the pressure off. That’s still the thing I most want to pass on.
I was born in Vienna, with roots in the Balkans – Macedonian and Serbian. For years I led painting workshops there, and I loved watching people who arrived saying „I really can’t paint“ leave two hours later with something they were proud of. That happens every single time.
In November 2024 I moved to Tenerife. The light here is different, the colours are different, and so is the pace. It seemed like a good place to start something of my own.
Then there’s Pandoro. My black cat, eighteen years old and entirely in charge of the household. He’s the reason nearly everything I paint has a cat in it somewhere – my whole collection started with him, and he’s quietly wandered into every workshop motif since. If you spot a black cat looking slightly unimpressed in one of the paintings, that’s him.
Canary Painters is where the two things come together: my own work, and evenings where other people get to make something with their hands. No experience needed, no pressure, no right way to do it. Just paint, wine, and a few hours where nothing else needs doing.
See you at a workshop.
Daniela
